As before the war, Baku State University is taking continuous steps in this regard during the post-war period.

In our country, continuous steps are being taken in various fields to educate the younger generation in the spirit of attachment to our national roots, moral values, historical traditions, love for the motherland, loyalty to the state. In general, educating young people in the spirit of patriotism is one of the important principles. One of the important factors ensuring the victory of the Patriotic War is the successful work on inculcating the spirit of patriotism among the youth. The 44-day Patriotic War, which lasted from September 27 to November 10 last year, showed that a young generation has been formed in Azerbaijan, connected to the Motherland, the people, ready to give their lives for the liberation of our lands. As it is known, from the first days of the war, tens of thousands of young people applied to the territorial departments of the State Service for Mobilization and Conscription and expressed their desire to enlist in the army. With their bravery on the battlefield, our young people have proved that they are able to justify the confidence of President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, and fulfill their mission with honor. However, this does not give us reason to be reassured. That is, as before the war, in the post-war period, work must be continued to develop the national self-consciousness of the younger generation and educate them in the spirit of patriotism. Of course, many institutions, including universities, have a great responsibility in this direction.
At this point, it should be noted that Baku State University (BSU), one of the leading universities in the country, is also taking appropriate steps in this direction.

Gunel Iskander (Orujaliyeva), the head of the Public Relations and Information Department of BSU, told Yeni Azerbaijan that students and graduates of Baku State University were among those who fought with great courage and bravery in the 44-day war, both on the front and in the rear. There was a. According to him, 18 students and graduates of BSU rose to the peak of martyrdom. A memorial corner has been created for them in the lobby of the university. Our interviewee said that the future of any society is its young generation:

"Caring for the young generation is one of the leading directions of the policy of the Azerbaijani state. The more educated, patriotic and high-minded today's students and youth are, the brighter and more promising the future of the state and the nation will be. In this sense, universities are an institution, a hearth that serves to strengthen the foundation of our future. For this purpose, a number of steps are being taken at our university.

It was noted that in accordance with the decision of the university administration, the memory of the martyrs should be honored, veteran students and graduates should be given attention and care, veterans should be supported in studying and solving educational problems, graduates should meet with students at faculties, etc. An Action Plan has been developed.

“It was decided to pay the fees of BSU students studying in subgroups who took part in the Great Patriotic War from the budget of the University. In the days of the Great Patriotic War, the university's faculty published more than 100 articles about our war in the periodicals, and about 50 articles by students, ”said Gunel Iskander.

According to him, "Where does the homeland - the success of our army", "We will win, Karabakh is ours, Karabakh is Azerbaijan!", "Azerbaijani Army liberated the cities of Jabrayil, Fizuli, Gubadli, Zangilan", "To the world" We show our minds and strength - "Professor from Zangilan", "Hello Azerbaijani soldier!", "As longing grows louder", "National unity and political solidarity - the path to victory", "Historical conditions for the liberation of Karabakh" "Towards Karabakh" , “Being a mother of a soldier”, “From national political will to military power”, “We trust the Supreme Commander-in-Chief and our army”, “Solidarity that brings victory”, “Halibusha of Haribulbul”, “End of 30 years of longing” and so on. Articles entitled "44 days", the composition "General Polad" in memory of the national hero General Polad Hashimov were presented.

In addition, BSU students have been very active, especially in the information war on social networks, in conveying the truth about Azerbaijan to the world.

Continuing his thoughts, Gunel Iskander said: “At the same time, measures are being taken to introduce martyrs and veterans among students and promote their heroism. Thus, BSU TV and the Student Youth Organization (SYO) have prepared reports on martyred students and graduates Javid Manafov, Nijat Ahmadov, Shamil Najafov, Manaf Bahmanli, Jeyhun Shaliyev, Vugar Mammadov, Atamali Musaoglu. The reports reflected the views of both their parents and the university staff on their way of life and the glorious path they fought. Reports dedicated to the memory of other martyred students and graduates are still being prepared within the project. The purpose of the project is to keep alive the memory of students and graduates of the university who rose to the peak of martyrdom, to engrave their glorious path of battle in the memory forever.

In addition, at the initiative of BSU volunteers, TGT and the Student Trade Union Committee (STUC), the families of martyred students and graduates are regularly contacted, cared for and cared for. Meetings with our veterans are held regularly at the faculties.

Gunel Iskander said: “According to the Action Plan, a book of remembrance will be prepared during the year to revive the memory of students and graduates who rose to the heights of martyrdom in the Great Patriotic War and to promote their heroic path among young people. The book will reflect the views of teachers and fellow students about our heroic martyrs. The project will be implemented with the participation of relevant structural units of the University, faculties, active members of the Student Youth Organization and the Student Trade Union Committee. Among the complex events, the book "Karabakh is Azerbaijan" will be published in the near future at the initiative of the Student Trade Union Committee of BSU. In the book, students spoke about the historic victory we won in the Great Patriotic War and the courage of our patriotic youth.

Gunel Iskander said that all this is aimed at reviving the memory of the martyrs and caring for veterans, as well as supporting the patriotic upbringing of the younger generation in the post-war period. As BSU, we are coping with this task with dignity and will continue to work in this direction in the future.
