An online round table dedicated to the 52nd anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev's coming to power was organized at Baku State University (BSU) on July 14.

Rector of BSU Elchin Babayev, who made an introductory speech at the round table, stressed that the coming to power of Heydar Aliyev on July 14, 1969 was an important historical event in our country, Tehsil.biz reports. He noted that the name of the Great Leader, who dedicated his life to the development, prosperity and well-being of the state and people, is written in golden letters in the history of Azerbaijan.

The rector spoke about the multifaceted activities of national leader Heydar Aliyev, his unparalleled historical services to the development of Azerbaijan, protection of our independence and strengthening of our national statehood, and the great mission of salvation. Elchin Babayev stressed that the Great Leader saw the only way of national development in the higher education and enlightenment of the people, and took all necessary measures for the development of science in the country. He said that the greatness of Heydar Aliyev's personality was that he did not spare attention and care to these areas throughout his career, and tried to form a highly educated, intellectual class in society. One of the most important measures taken by the genius and far-sighted person at that time was the historic decisions taken to train national military personnel in the republic and, as a result, the establishment of the Military School named after Jamshid Nakhchivanski.

Elchin Babayev stressed that the foundation of the people's power union, which is the basis of our glorious victory in the Great Patriotic War, was laid during the rule of the Great Leader.

In her speech, MP, head of the department of BSU Kamila Aliyeva spoke about the great leader's unparalleled contribution to the development of Azerbaijani statehood, the revival of the country's economy, the implementation of several projects aimed at the development of the republic.
