A webinar on "The concept of moderation in Islam" was organized within the Memorandum of Cooperation signed between the Azerbaijan Theological Institute (ATI) and the Pakistan Muslim Institute.

Scientists and specialists of both enterprises spoke on various topics at the event, which took place through the ZOOM program.

In his welcoming and opening speech, the rector of the Pakistan Muslim Institute Sahibzada Sultan Ahmed Ali stressed the importance of expanding cooperation with the AII and holding such events.

Rector of AII, Doctor of Philosophy Agil Shirinov, in his opening speech, stressed that only cultures that take into account other cultures and use their achievements can develop. Noting that Islamic culture is not an exclusive approach to other cultures, A. Shirinov said that since the establishment of Islam, it has not been indifferent to the success of other cultures, trying to use their achievements.

Speaking about the concept of Islamic coexistence, the rector said that our differences do not prevent us from living together: "Azerbaijan, where the majority of the population is Muslim, has historically been one of the best examples of Islamic coexistence," he said.

A.Shirinov then spoke about the analysis of the current situation and solutions to the problems: “Our world, which has become a global village, needs the union of cultures and the development of the tradition of coexistence as never before in history. Unfortunately, in our modern world there are many elements that threaten this tradition. To prevent this, it is important to present and propagate the traditional universal values of Islam in a way that appeals to modern human thought. Muslim theologians and clerics have a great responsibility in this regard.

Executive Director of the Baku International Center for Multiculturalism Ravan Hasanov made a report on "The impact of being measured and balanced on society." He noted that in balancing relations, human activities and qualities such as acceptance, agreement, digestion, endurance and patience are widely concentrated. Ensuring a balanced situation also depends on the relative equality of views of members of society.

Dean of the Faculty of Theology E. Azizova made a report on "Dynamics of Islamic moderation: religious text, history and practice."
In her report, E. Azizova spoke about the basics of moderation in the Holy Quran and the hadiths of the Prophet Muhammad, which has become one of the topical issues of religious extremism in recent decades, as well as the opening of many research institutes of the same name in the Islamic world. He also cited examples from fourteen centuries of Islamic culture, emphasizing the role of moderation in the social, economic, legal and religious life of Islamic societies. He spoke about the example of Azerbaijan, the theoretical basis of which is reflected in the Bible of Islam and the Sunnah of the Prophet, the manifestation of moderation in the way of life of Muslim societies.

Head of the Department of Theology, Assoc. In his report, Gafarov discussed the concept of moderation in the example of coexistence. He said that scientific and technological developments and globalization are inevitable for multicultural societies. Assessing the issue from a sociological point of view, Gafarov noted that along with the advantages of a multicultural environment for societies, it also creates conditions for the emergence of some negative factors on social, spiritual, religious and political grounds.

Emphasizing that moderation is studied as a value in society and it is a factor experienced, the speaker stressed the importance of such scientific, social, spiritual and political measures. Noting that Azerbaijan is an example for Muslim countries in this direction, Gafarov spoke about the legal, cultural, literary and religious foundations of moderation and tolerance in our country.
