The online summer lecture entitled "Azerbaijani-Chinese Cultural Relations on the Historical Silk Road" has started at the Confucius Institute of the Azerbaijan University of Languages (ASU).

"Tehsil.biz" was told from ASU that the director of the Confucius Institute, Rafig Abbasov, who delivered the first lecture, presented examples of Chinese celadon found during archaeological excavations in Shamakhi, Shabran, Baku, Ganja, Beylagan, Gabala and other cities along the Great Silk Road of Azerbaijan. He talked about his dishes.

It was noted that the center of production of these unique products of decorative and applied art of ancient China was Longquan district of Zhejiang province. Celadon vases and bowls were first produced during the Han dynasty, and classical examples of this type of ceramic vessels became widespread during the Sun and Ming periods.

It was also noted that the Chinese celadon wares covered with a special type of light blue and light green glaze, which have a unique cooking technique, are the only types of ceramics included in the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in the world. It was said that celadon dishes decorated with lovely plant ornaments in the form of chrysanthemums, peonies, and lotuses of Chinese decor were considered a symbol of wealth and power. These vessels are widespread in Islamic countries and the Caucasus, which is a proof of the historical Azerbaijan-China cultural relations.
