The Faculty of Information Technology and Engineering of ADA University has provided organizational support to our team representing our country at the 33rd International Informatics Olympiad in Singapore.
The Olympics were held online from 19 to 25 June.
The university said that Aziz Huseynov, Said Nasibov, Emin Orujov and Amin Jalilov were among the members of the "Azerbaijan team" representing our country. Rashad Mammadov was elected the leader of the team, Ibrahim Tagizadeh and Huseyn Hajiyev, students of the Faculty of Information Technologies and Engineering, were elected deputy and assistant to the team leader, respectively.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the event, the dean of the faculty and a member of the International Olympic Committee Araz Yusubov greeted the participants virtually from Azerbaijan. He wished success to more than 350 computer enthusiasts representing 88 teams.
This year, the head teacher of the faculty Jamaladdin Hasanov made a presentation at the annual scientific-practical conference held as part of the event.
30 participants won gold medals in the Olympiad, which brings together future professionals in the field of computer science. The Azerbaijani team won two bronze medals. In addition, Araz Yusubov was elected a three-year member of the International Committee by a majority vote of the entire delegation.
IOI (International Informatics Olympiad) is one of the annual international science Olympiads. One of the main goals of the intellectual competition is to introduce talented young people in the field of computer science and to convey the importance of computer science to young people.
It should be noted that ADA University was closely involved in the organization of the 31st International Informatics Olympiad in 2019, hosted by Azerbaijan. Since that year, the university has also hosted the semifinals and finals of the National Informatics Olympiad in accordance with the rules and standards of the International Informatics Olympiad.
