“One of the changes made at UNEC in the coming academic year was the transition to modular education. The effects of this innovation are currently being analyzed. For this purpose, a survey was conducted among teachers and students on the application of the modular system. 409 teachers and 2721 students took part in the survey.
Rector of the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC), Professor Adalat Muradov shared this on his official Facebook page. The rector announced the results of a survey conducted among teachers and students on the modular system applied at UNEC in the 2020/2021 academic year.
“47.1% of teachers participating in the survey supported the transition to the modular system, while 43.1% did not consider it expedient. Also, 42.3 percent of teachers said that the prospects of the modular system were attractive, and 40.7 percent said the opposite. 38% of teachers said that the modular system was tiring, 27% said that it was very comfortable, and 87% of teachers said that they were able to teach on the basis of the modular system. The main shortcoming of the module system was that 44% of teachers reported imbalances in the distribution of workload, and 30% reported poor mastery of teaching materials by students.
61.2% of students were satisfied with the module system, 38.8% were dissatisfied, 64% were satisfied with the sequence of subjects in the modules, 34.3% were dissatisfied. As the main advantage of the module system, 66.2 percent of students noted the small number of subjects in each module, 70 percent noted the lack of time to prepare for exams, and 12.6 percent noted the large volume of lecture texts.
The analysis continues. According to the results of the analysis, necessary steps will be taken to improve the module system by eliminating its weaknesses.
