Rector of Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction (AUAC), Professor Gulchohra Mammadova and Head of the Department of Architectural Structures and Restoration of Monuments, Professor Sabina Hajiyeva at the 3rd International Seminar "Heritage without Borders" made interesting reports.
In his report on "Azerbaijan's architectural heritage, current situation and problems of protection", the rector spoke about the history and architectural features of architectural monuments inherent in the main architectural schools of Azerbaijan. , brought evidence of attempts by our enemies to destroy Islamic monuments during the occupation, and to Armenianize our Christian monuments.
Professor Sabina Hajiyeva in her report "Architectural heritage of the north-western region of Azerbaijan" analyzed the existing monuments in the north-western part of Azerbaijan and gave information about the rich architectural heritage, monuments of the region's centuries-old, complex development of architecture and decorative art. . He noted that defense, religious, civil and various types of architectural monuments in these areas are included in the list of architectural monuments of Azerbaijan and should be studied in more detail and preserved. Both reports were met with great interest, and numerous questions were addressed to the speakers.
It should be noted that the event was organized within the European Union's Erasmus + KA 107 "Heritage without Borders" project and was attended by the following universities: Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction, Georgia Technical University, Novi Sad University of Serbia and Tokyo University of Arts in Japan. The seminar was organized in two directions: collaboration of students studying at the Polytechnic University of Milan on the protection of architectural monuments and lectures of professors. By the way, one of the joint projects of the students is the Seven Churches monastery complex located in the north-western region of Azerbaijan, Gakh region. It should be noted that, given the importance of the event, which was scheduled to be held in Milan in May, but was postponed due to quarantine, it was considered expedient to hold it online.
The purpose of the seminars is to focus on the protection of cultural, including architectural heritage of various strategic countries in the East, such as Serbia, Azerbaijan and Georgia.
