Nurlan Amrahov, Senior Laboratory Assistant, Department of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Baku State University (BSU) Faculty of Biology, advanced training in "Biochemistry" and "Genetics" organized by Harvard University from April 12 to June 25, 2021 with the support of BSU and the Agricultural Research Institute attended courses.

The courses provided theoretical knowledge of methods of genetic analysis in modern times, important information in the implementation of selection and gene modification, and theoretical knowledge of modern biochemical analysis.

Genetics at the level of eukaryotic (human, animal and plant) and prokaryotic (bacteria) cells, genetic and genome aberrations, organization of heredity based on Mendel's laws and emerging genetic problems, population genetics, genome sequencing, resistance to abiotic and biotic stresses taught knowledge of identification, general and specific features. Biochemistry trainings taught the organization of biochemical processes in eukaryotes, prokaryotic organisms and viruses, signaling processes at the cellular and tissue level, the study of energetic (thermodynamic) processes at the cellular and organoid levels, and the establishment of feedback between cells based on biochemical mechanisms.

The teaching process was conducted by Harvard University researchers Cristine De Gennaro, Robert Green, Carrie Blond, Kevin Bonham and Ole-Petter Hamvik.

In the final exam of the course, Nurlan Amrahov showed high results and was awarded the "Achievement Certificate".
