A round table on "Legal analysis of the Shusha Declaration" was held

Baku State University (BSU) Faculty of Law organized an online round table on "Legal analysis of the Shusha Declaration."

 

Speaking at the roundtable, Dean of the Faculty of Law Amir Aliyev noted that the declaration signed by the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkey in Shusha, the ancient land of Azerbaijan, will have a significant impact not only on the South Caucasus, but also on the Middle East, Central Asia and Europe. Emphasizing the importance of the document for the establishment of a military alliance between Azerbaijan and Turkey, Aliyev said that this alliance was established at a time when the existing balance of power was being violated and a new world order was being formed. He noted that Azerbaijan is a regional leader with a military-political alliance, mutual support and agreement on action with Turkey.

 

Then the chairman of the committee of the Milli Majlis, the head of the department of constitutional law of BSU Ziyafat Asgarov, the head of the Ombudsman's Office Aydin Safikhanli, the member of Milli Majlis Bahruz Maharramov, the head of the department of criminology and forensics Kamil Salimov, the head of the department of international private law and European law Alizade Mammadov, and Ipek Abbasova, Associate Professor of Forensic Science, Elmira Qazvinova, Professor of Constitutional Law, Samira Eyvazova, Professor of International Private Law and European Law, Asmar Aliyeva, Associate Professor of Civil Procedure and Commercial Law, Hajar Gasimova, Associate Professor of International Law.

 

It was stated in the speeches that the declaration demonstrates a new approach to Azerbaijan-Turkey strategic relations based on the principles of National Leader Heydar Aliyev "One Nation, Two States" and the founder of the Turkish Republic Mustafa Kemal Ataturk "Azerbaijan's joy is our joy, our sorrow is our sorrow." They spoke about the importance of the declaration in the historical perspective, emphasizing the importance of signing a declaration between Turkey and Azerbaijan in the liberated city of Shusha after the Kars agreement signed a hundred years ago. It was noted that the Shusha Declaration also has legal significance and force, and discussions were held on this.

 

After the speeches, Rauf Shamsizadeh, Associate Professor of the Department of Criminal Law and Criminology from Shusha, and Ipek Abbasova, Associate Professor of the Department of Criminology and Forensics, expressed their views on the speeches.
