The scientific article co-authored by Professor Khudaverdi Ganbarov, Head of the Microbiology and Virology Research Laboratory of Baku State University, was published in a high-impact journal included in the international scientific database Web of Science Clarivate Analytics.

A review of Dysregulation of LncRNA in Helicobacter pylori-Infected Gastric Cancer Cells was published in the journal BioMed Research International (2021) with an impact factor of 3.411, which is a disorder of LncRNA regulation in gastric cancer cells infected with Helicobacter pylori.

The genetically variable Helicobacter pyloru bacterium is one of the leading causes of stomach cancer. Gastric cancer is caused by a number of genetic disorders. These disorders can occur due to environmental factors and infection with H. pylori.

LncРНТ (long-stranded RNA that does not encode proteins) is an important biological macromolecule that performs a specific function in the stomach and can have a therapeutic purpose. Modified LncPNT can cause abnormal expression of neighboring cells that can encode proteins. Such abnormal expressions cause cancer. The mechanisms of expression have not been adequately studied, so the review article examined the risk of gastric cancer in populations with high levels of LncPNT and infected with H. pylori.
