An event was held in connection with the appointment of a new director general of the Institute of Geography named after academician HA Aliyev of ANAS.

The vice-president of ANAS, academician Ibrahim Guliyev announced the appointment of the head of the "Human Geography" direction of the Institute, doctor of geographical sciences Zakir Eminov as the director general of the Institute of Geography.
Informing the participants about the scientific and organizational activities of the author, the academician noted that for many years Z. Eminov conducted extensive research in Azerbaijan in the field of demography and urban development, socio-demographic situation in the Republic of Azerbaijan and other countries in transition. He is the author of about 90 scientific articles and theses, 10 monographs, about 10 books on economic and socio-demographic problems of population settlement in Azerbaijan. The United Kingdom has been published in the Russian Federation, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Bulgaria, Romania and other countries.
ZN Eminov has done a lot to teach geography and promote it among a wide range of readers, has prepared large books and textbooks. He is the author of a large two-volume "Encyclopedia of Geography", intended as a textbook for secondary schools.
Z.Eminov, who is closely involved in pedagogical activities, gives lectures and conducts seminars at Baku State and Azerbaijan Pedagogical Universities. At present, 1 person supervises the dissertation of the doctor of sciences, 5 dissertations on the doctor of philosophy, 5 doctoral students. So far, 4 people have defended their doctoral dissertations in geography under his supervision.
In 2016, he was awarded the State Prize of Azerbaijan in the field of science as one of the main authors of the three-volume fundamental work "Geography of the Republic of Azerbaijan".
At the end of his presentation, Guliyev congratulated Zakir Eminov on his new position and wished him great success in this difficult, responsible and honorable work.
