The activities carried out by the Institute of Education within the project "Expansion of the network of general education institutions with inclusive classrooms" implemented by the Ministry of Education and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) continue.
Tehsil.biz reports that the next event implemented within the project is dedicated to "Formation of inclusion culture". Thus, separate meetings were held with students and their parents in schools with inclusive classes in Baku, Sumgayit, Ganja, Shirvan, Sheki, Guba and Gazakh districts. A total of 151 students and 145 parents attended the meetings, where the topic of tolerance for diversity was discussed with students and interactive sessions were organized. Issues such as inclusion, the importance of inclusive education, the legal framework and values, the medical and social model of disability, as well as the correct terminology for disability and the role of parents in inclusive education were discussed with parents.
In order to ensure the quality of teaching in inclusive classrooms, the project also provides mentoring services.
