Four Azerbaijani-language schools have been closed in Georgia over the past two years

At present, there are 116 Azerbaijani-language and Azerbaijani-language schools in Georgia.

The statement came from the Education Management Information Center of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia in response to a request from the local bureau of Report.

Of the secondary schools with Azerbaijani language of instruction, 104 are located in Kvemo Kartli, 9 in the Kakheti region, and 3 in Tbilisi.

The number of schools decreased by 3 compared to the previous year. So, last year there were 119 Azerbaijani-language schools in the neighboring country.

Looking at the indicators of the last two years, it is clear that during this period, the activities of 4 Azerbaijani-language schools in the neighboring country were suspended.

In the 2020-2021 academic year, 25,312 students were educated in Azerbaijani-language public schools, which is 356 more than a year ago. Most students (1,272 people) studied at the Yormuganli village school in Sagarejo municipality. The schools with the lowest number of students are in Samgereti municipality of Tetritskaro municipality and Aggula village of Marneuli region. There were 3 students in each of these educational institutions.
