Baku State University (BSU) hosted a seminar on "Academic English for magazine articles."
Opening the seminar, Mais Suleymanov, head of the BSU Center for Scientific Activities and Innovations, said that the main purpose of the training was to help university scientists, doctoral students and young researchers improve their academic English in the process of publishing articles in impact journals.
Garez Dyke, Editor-in-Chief of Historical Biology (An International Journal of Paleobiology) with an impact factor of Q25 category 2,259, will be published in Academic Articles to be published in journals indexed on the Web of Science and other similar scientific databases. Made a presentation on the topic. G. Dyke spoke about issues such as academic writing methodology, plagiarism, citations, preparation of bibliography, and provided information on the conditions and requirements for articles in high-index journals. He stressed the relevance of the topic for the academic community and clarified the issues discussed on the basis of examples. Dyke spoke about the fact that "predatory" magazines have become part of reality and ways to combat them.
Speaking at the seminar, BSU Rector Elchin Babayev expressed confidence that BSU will become one of the main pillars in ensuring the transition of our country to the knowledge economy. He said that research-oriented universities occupy the first place in the world's leading rankings. Giving recommendations to young researchers and doctoral students, Rector E.Babayev stressed the importance of the correct application of the English language in academic articles.
