Recently, by the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, corresponding member of ANAS Misir Mardanov was awarded the 1st degree "For Service to the Motherland" order for his long-term fruitful activity in the socio-political life and scientific-pedagogical sphere of our country.

On this occasion, the President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Academician Ramiz Mehdiyev met with the Director General of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics of ANAS, Corresponding Member Misir Mardanov and congratulated him. Taking into account his services to the development of science and education in Azerbaijan and in connection with the 75th anniversary, the head of the Academy presented the Honorary Decree of ANAS to Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member Misir Mardanov.

It should be noted that on October 3, 2021, the 75th anniversary of the birth of Misir Mardanov, Director General of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Honored Scientist, Professor, Corresponding Member of ANAS.

Misir Mardanov graduated with honors in 1969 from the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, Azerbaijan State University (now Baku State University).

In 1969 he worked as a senior laboratory assistant at the Department of Mathematical Analysis of Kirovabad Pedagogical Institute named after H. Zardabi (now Ganja State University), in 1970-1972 he studied at the full-time postgraduate course of Azerbaijan State University, in 1973 he received his Ph.D. defended his dissertation. The scientist was awarded the title of associate professor in 1981.

Corresponding member of ANAS Misir Mardanov worked as the rector of Baku State University in 1996-1998, the Minister of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 1998-2013. He has been the director of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics of ANAS since 2013, and the general director since 2021. The scientist was elected a corresponding member of ANAS in 2017.

Corresponding member of ANAS Misir Mardanov's scientific researches are devoted to obtaining necessary conditions for optimality in the problems described by ordinary, special derivative, delayed argument differential equations and discrete systems. The scientist developed a new, unified method in order to prove Pontryagin's maximum principle for optimal management problems with various constraints, as well as the necessary and sufficient conditions of the second compilation.

Corresponding member of ANAS Misir Mardanov published 150 scientific works, 5 monographs, 20 textbooks and teaching aids, 64 articles on prominent personalities of the country, four-volume "Azerbaijan education history", multi-volume "Azerbaijanis who studied in universities until 1920", as well as 2 education. He is the author of 10 books and 120 articles. Under the scientific guidance of the scientist, 2 doctors of sciences and 7 doctors of philosophy were prepared.

Corresponding member of ANAS Misir Mardanov Vice-President of Azerbaijan Mathematical Society, President of Turkic World Mathematical Society, Honorary President of Turkic World Mathematical Society, Academician of International Academy of Sciences for Pedagogical Education, as well as full member of Russian Academy of Pedagogical and Social Sciences, foreign member of Russian Academy of Education , Editor-in-chief of Azerbaijan Journal of Mathematics and Works of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics, member of the international editorial board of TWMS Journal of Pure and Applied Mathematics and Chebyshevsky Collection.
