October 11 is the day of remembrance of Nijat Ayaz oglu Shukurlu, a graduate of Baku Slavic University (BSU), martyr of the Great Patriotic War. they played an unparalleled role.
Nijat Shukurlu was born on October 23, 1991 in Badamdar settlement of Sabail district of Baku. In 1998-2009, he received his secondary education at school-lyceum No. 49 located in Bayil settlement. In 2009-2011 he served in the active military service. In 2014-2019, he graduated from the Faculty of International Relations, Regional Studies and Journalism of BSU. He is known as an outstanding student of BSU and actively involved in the socio-cultural life of the university. At the same time, Nijat Shukurlu, who is engaged in karate, has achieved a number of successes in various competitions held in our country.
Sergeant of the Azerbaijani Army Nijat Shukurlu took an active part in the battles for the liberation of Fizuli and Hadrut settlements of Khojavend region during the Patriotic War, which began on September 27, 2020 to liberate our Armenian-occupied lands and ensure the territorial integrity of our country. Nijat Shukurlu, who was killed during the Hadrut battles on October 11, was buried on October 12 in the Alley of Martyrs in Badamdar settlement.
Nijat Shukurlu was awarded the Medal "For the Motherland" and the liberation of Khojavend region by the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev dated December 15, 2020. Order "On the liberation of Khojavend" by the Order dated December 25, 2020 for personal courage and bravery in the combat operations for the liberation of Fizuli region, as well as the Order dated June 24, 2021 for personal courage and bravery in the military operations for the liberation of Fizuli He was awarded the medal "For the liberation of Fizuli from occupation" and a bust was erected at school-lyceum No. 49, where he studied.
The staff of BSU, like all our martyrs, always honors the memory of Nijat Shukurlu, stands and corners have been created in the educational buildings of the university to commemorate our martyrs.
It should be noted that more than 100 BSU graduates took part in the war during the Patriotic War, along with Nijat Shukurlu, Kanan Rustamli and Elnur Allahverdizadeh were killed.
