An online event entitled "Maritime Law, Importance and Basic Concepts" was organized by the Student Youth Organizations (SYOs) of the Law and Geography faculties of Baku State University as part of the Caspian Week.
Speaking at the event, Dean of the Faculty of Geography Shekar Mammadova informed the students about the geography of the Caspian Sea. Giving information about the law of the sea, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Law Aytekin Ibrahimova spoke about the urgency of the topic.
Sahila Allahverdiyeva, a teacher at the Department of Economic and Social Geography of the Faculty of Geography, made a report on the role of the Caspian Sea in the economy of Azerbaijan. He said that the development of rich hydrocarbon resources in the Caspian Sea and their free transportation to world energy markets are today not only the priorities of our country's foreign policy, but also a topical issue of modern world politics and the international community. He touched upon the environmental problems of the Caspian Sea, emphasizing that the pollution of the Caspian Sea is one of the most important problems of recent times.
Then, Natig Asgarov, Associate Professor of the Faculty of Law, spoke on "The legal status of the Caspian Sea" and spoke about the geopolitical, cultural, environmental, economic and energy significance of the Caspian Sea.
In the end, students' questions were answered.
