A memorial day was held at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Baku State University in memory of the prominent academician Vasim Mammadaliyev, a prominent Arabic scholar, head of the Department of Arabic Philology.

According to Tehsil.biz, the faculty and students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies visited the grave of academician Vasim Mammadaliyev, laid flowers at his grave and prayed for his soul.

After the visit, a round table was held on the scientist's remembrance day. Opening the event, Professor of the Department of Arabic Philology Elkhan Azizov gave detailed information about the life and work of Vasim Muallim and said that he was a prominent scientist with fundamental knowledge and extraordinary language skills. He spoke about the appreciation of the scientist in the country and in Eastern countries, as well as his contribution to the development of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, his long-term service in the training of human resources.

Vugar Garadagli, associate professor of Arabic philology, spoke about the late academician's great knowledge not only in Arabic, but also in all areas of oriental studies, his mastery of Persian language, poetry and mugam. Along with the path he opened in Arabic studies, he noted that he was a valuable person, sincere and kind.

Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs Tarlan Malikov spoke about his dissertation under the guidance of Vasim Muallim and the preparation of the first Azerbaijani dictionary in the Arabic language.

Deputy Dean for Scientific Affairs Nigar Ismayilzadeh said that Vasim Muallim had a deep knowledge of Azerbaijani culture, art and even cuisine, always supported and supported people with his advice, and was elected in social processes as well as in science.

Then, Mais Agaverdiyev, a teacher at the Department of Arabic Philology, Asmatkhanim Mammadova, an associate professor at the Department of Iranian Philology, and Nemat Mammadov, a master's student taught by Vasim, shared their memories of the scientist.
