According to the Action Plan approved by the Order of the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic "On the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the newspaper" Sharq Qapisi "dated June 1, 2021, the anniversary event of the press was held at Nakhchivan State University.

According to Tehsil.biz, the participants first viewed an exhibition of issues of the Sharq Qapisi newspaper, in which the writings of university staff and student authors were published, and books reflecting the historical development of the Nakhchivan press, including the Sharq Qapisi newspaper.

Opening the event, the rector of the university Elbrus Isayev said that the historic order signed to mark the 100th anniversary of the Sharq Qapisi newspaper is a great tribute to the work of the generation of journalists who have contributed to the 100-year history, culture and science of Nakhchivan. In this sense, today the editorial office of the "Eastern Gate" newspaper has created modern working conditions for the publication of the newspaper, which can enter both the professionalism of the journalist and the world journalism arena.

It was noted that as a result of the attention and care paid to the formation of human resources in the field of journalism in the country, today the "Eastern Gate", a hundred-year-old educational chronicle, employs young journalists, including student journalists of Nakhchivan State University.
 In her speech, the editor-in-chief of the Sharq Qapisi newspaper, Honored Journalist of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Mehriban Sultanova stressed that the development of today's independent media is connected with the name of national leader Heydar Aliyev. The editor-in-chief looked at the historical development of the 100-year-old press and spoke about the attention and care shown to our national press. It was noted that the signing of the Order dated June 1, 2021 "On the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the newspaper" Sharq Qapisi "is a political assessment of the important role of the national press in society and the history of our statehood. It was noted that the Sharq Qapisi newspaper has always been surrounded by the attention and care of the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly, and its 75th, 80th, 85th and 90th anniversaries have been celebrated at a high level. The editor-in-chief thanked the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly on behalf of the newspaper's staff for the high attention and care.

Chairman of the Nakhchivan Press Council Rovshan Huseynov said that during the years of independence, the press, like other areas in the autonomous republic, has entered a new stage of development. Rovshan Huseynov spoke about the active citizenship and intellectual position of the employees of Nakhchivan State University, as well as teachers and students of the Department of Journalism and Foreign Literature, who regularly publish articles in the press, especially in the "Eastern Gate".

Shahla Shiraliyeva, Head of the Department of Journalism and Foreign Literature, Nakhchivan State University, Saadat Aliyeva, Head of the Press and Public Relations Department, and Guntaj Shahmammadli, an employee of the Sharq Qapisi newspaper, spoke in detail about the role of the Sharq Qapisi newspaper in the development of our national press.

The event featured a video reflecting the activities of the University Media Center, a slide reflecting the historical development and working principle of the "Eastern Gate" newspaper. At the end, the editor-in-chief of the Sharq Qapisi newspaper was awarded an honorary diploma of Nakhchivan State University, as well as the editorial staff of the Sharq Qapisi newspaper on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Sharq Qapisi newspaper and its fruitful activity in the socio-political and socio-economic life of the autonomous republic. Gifts were presented to university staff and students who actively cooperate with the newspaper.

The event ended with a concert program by the Naqshijahan instrumental ensemble.
