During the Great Patriotic War, along with other servicemen, the medical staff of the Ministry of Defense also showed great heroism and bravery. Most of them are graduates of the Azerbaijan Medical University. As it is known, 159 medical workers were wounded during the military operations, and a total of 42 medical workers were heroically killed in the line of duty.

At present, along with the whole country, the staff of the Azerbaijan Medical University is closely involved in the commemoration ceremonies of the martyred graduates. The staff of the Military Medical Faculty of the University took part in the commemoration ceremony dedicated to the anniversary of Abdullayev Eldar Firidun oglu, a graduate of the faculty, martyred in the war. Members of the staff visited the Alley of Martyrs in Sumgayit. Representatives of the faculty took part in the ceremony dedicated to the anniversary of another martyr, soldier Bayramov Salimkhan Vugar oglu. The staff of the Azerbaijan Medical University will always honor the memory of the graduates killed in the Great Patriotic War.
