The project of the UNEC Composite Materials Research Center has won an international competition announced by ALBA, one of Europe's leading research centers.
The winning project was on "Application of alkaline soil thiogals activated with rare earth elements as effective phosphor materials in in vivo local temperature measurements and optical bioimaging".
In connection with the implementation of the project, the head of the Department of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Professor Rovnag Rzayev and the director of the Center for Organization of Laboratories, senior lecturer Tural Nagiyev visited the ALBA Research Center in Barcelona, Spain. The project is being implemented by a research team of scientists from Azerbaijan, Italy and Spain.
The winners of the winning projects will receive a special scholarship on a free basis to conduct research at times specified by ALBA. Only scientifically sound and practical applications are preferred in the competition. The project also envisages the acquisition of luminescent thermometers for in-vivo local temperature measurements on the basis of phosphors activated by rare earth elements and the study of practical applications for optical bioimaging in medicine due to the properties of infrared radiation. .
In the next stage of the research, it is planned to analyze the spectra obtained by the research team from Azerbaijan, Italy and Spain and publish the results in high-ranking scientific journals. At the same time, as a continuation of the research, these samples will be carried out in the relevant research centers of the identified countries.
