In December 2020, at the request of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Education, the Cabinet of Ministers amended the rules of admission to higher education institutions adopted in 2017.
The statement came from the chairman of the State Examination Center, Maleyka Abbaszade, at a press conference today, Tehsil.biz reports.
According to him, according to the new decision, the specialties of international relations and regional studies were added to the third group of specialties:
"It is important that students in these specialties have knowledge of geography. Therefore, geography was added to the 3rd specialty group. Of course, there are many questions. There were 13,642 specialty groups for admission to the second specialty group, more than 16,000 applications. 6,000 people scored more than 150 points.
The entrants to the second group mainly chose the financial specialty. About 500 people in the 2nd specialty group chose only international relations and regional studies. The reason was that they did not get the required 200 points. Universities want educated students to take those places. "
Maleyka Abbaszadeh noted that when comparing the figures, about 4,000 entrants will not be able to choose a specialty: "2,000 bachelors participated in the competition in the 3rd specialty group. When we announced vacancies, many applicants wanted to choose the second specialty group in international relations. and it was against the rules.
Those who are preparing for the third group may not want these specialties. Of course, those who are preparing for the third group do not have to prepare for geography. Some sites have put the wrong headlines on this topic.
New opportunities have been created for entrants, and entrants preparing for the third group will take an exam in geography in their specialty. Applicants majoring in International Relations will not take an additional subject exam. They will be presented with a booklet on their native language, history and geography. "
Maleyka Abbaszadeh noted that this decision is based on the appeal of universities to the Ministry of Education.
