An international scientific conference dedicated to the first anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War was organized by the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Baku State University (BSU).

The scientific conference began with a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs of the Great Patriotic War.

The moderator of the conference, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Defense, Security and Combating Corruption, Head of the Department of Constitutional Law of BSU, Professor Ziyafat Asgarov spoke about the historic victory of the brave Azerbaijani Army over Armenia under the leadership of President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev. He said that the victory of the Azerbaijani army over Armenia is important in ensuring peace, stability and development in the region. Along with the unprecedented victories of our army on the battlefield, the diplomatic struggle of the country's leader in these sensitive and fateful days, his interviews with the world's leading publications also conveyed the true voice of Azerbaijan to the world. Professor Z.Asgarov also spoke about the ineffective activities of international organizations in resolving the Karabakh conflict.

Rector of BSU Elchin Babayev reminded that thanks to the wise and courageous decisions of our victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief from the first moments of the 44-day Patriotic War, written in golden letters in the history of world war, the enemy's line of defense was broken and the enemy was forced to retreat. He said that the professional, brave Azerbaijani army, acting on a lightning-fast war plan, raised our tricolor flag on the strategic Murov peak, Fizuli, Jabrayil, and in the following days in Sugovushan, Hadrut, Khojavend, Zangilan and Gubadli. With the liberation of Shusha, the heart of Karabakh, on November 8, our victorious army led by our Supreme Commander-in-Chief once again defeated the enemy and forced him to sign an act of capitulation. Thus, the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan recognized by the world community was ensured, and the 30-year war ended with a brilliant victory of our country.

Rector Elchin Babayev quoted that this victory is the greatest victory in the history of our people, the highest victory. Our victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief, whose name is written in golden letters in the world military history, set an example to the whole world with a 44-day Patriotic War, a brave and just war.

Joining the conference by video link, Professor of Ankara University Javid Abdullazade and Professor of Odessa University of Ukraine Arif Guliyev made reports.

Then, Professor of the Faculty of Law of BSU Amir Aliyev, Associate Professor of the Faculty of Law, Member of Milli Majlis Bahruz Maharramov, Associate Professor of the Faculty of International Relations and Economics Karam Mammadov spoke about the great leadership skills, determination and determination of our army. They spoke about the survival of one of them, the strength of the victorious Azerbaijani Army, the heroism of the invincible Azerbaijani soldier, the Turkish-Azerbaijani friendship and brotherhood.

It was noted in the reports that the political analysis of the events in our country for 30 years gives grounds to say that the basis of today's achievements of Azerbaijan, as well as our glorious victory today is the unshakable unity of people and power established by National Leader Heydar Aliyev in 1993.
