On October 27, Azerbaijan University of Languages (AUL) hosted an event dedicated to the memory of Rashad Mehdiyev, a martyr of the Great Patriotic War, a student of Sabah groups.
The event, organized by the Department of Azerbaijani Literature of the university, began with a minute of silence in honor of the national anthem and the memory of the martyrs, Tehsil.biz reports.
The event was attended by senior teachers of the Department of Azerbaijani Literature of the University, Ph.D. Nurida Mukhtarzadeh's "Sons left to return with pride", Ph.D. Mehriban Movlamova's "Who does the motherland call a son?" and university student Sanam Gasimova's lectures "Everyone raised a son" were heard, and a video on the biography of the martyr Rashad Mehdiyev was shown.
The father of the martyr, veteran of the Karabakh war, veteran Rahman Mediyev, thanked the university administration and the organizers for holding the event.
"Rashad was a very patriotic son. He was always worried about the enslavement of our lands. His endless hatred and revenge for the hated enemy gave him the opportunity to take revenge during this war. Today, my son, who volunteered for the freedom of the homeland, achieved his dream and rose to the highest peak called martyrdom. I am proud of him. Long live the motherland! The father of the martyr spoke about his son's short life and achievements in the field of education.
At the event, the head of the International Journalism Department Nargiz Gurbanli made comparative views on both wars. "Martyrs die when they are forgotten!" Said Nargiz Gurbanli, sharing her memories of her brother Elchin Gurbanli, who was killed in the Karabakh war.
A video dedicated to the biography of the martyr of the Karabakh war Elchin Gurbanli was shown during the event.
Students and friends of the martyr Rashad Mehdiyev also shared their memories of him at the event. At the end of the event, students recited poems about the martyrs.
It should be noted that the martyr Rashad Mehdiyev was born on April 24, 1997 in Absheron region.
He received his secondary education at school No. 9 in Khirdalan and at the Jamshid Nakhchivanski Military High School.
Martyr Rashad Mehdiyev, who received his higher education in the "Sabah" groups of the Azerbaijan Technical University, graduated with honors. He worked as a programmer at the e-Government Development Center.
Rashad Mehdiyev, a volunteer of the Great Patriotic War, rose to the peak of martyrdom on October 20, 2020 in the battles for the heights of Argunash.
After his death, by the order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, he was awarded the medals "For the Motherland", "For the liberation of Khojavend", "For the liberation of Fuzuli".
