Mehriban Valiyeva, head of the Baku City Education Department (BCED), attended special classes dedicated to January 20.

The department told Tehsil.biz that Mehriban Valiyeva, the director of the Baku Institute of Technology and Economics, who discussed the glorious stage of the people's struggle for freedom with students and teachers, spoke about the tragedies of the January 20 events and the freedom struggle of the Azerbaijani people.

Speaking about the history of the January 20 events, the head of the department noted that the legal and political assessment of these processes was given by the great statesman Heydar Aliyev. Mehriban Valiyeva spoke about President Ilham Aliyev, who successfully continues the political course of national leader Heydar Aliyev, always glorifies the names of martyrs and pays special attention to the social protection of their families.

Then the head of the department participated in the event "January 20: the road to freedom" organized at the secondary school No. 39.

The event began with the national anthem and a minute of silence was observed in memory of the heroic sons of the Fatherland who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of our people.

The head of the department noted that the history of the struggle of the Azerbaijani people brought us through the events of January 20 to independence and victory. Speaking about the brilliant victory of the Azerbaijani Army in the 44-day Patriotic War, M. Valiyeva said that important work was done in the field of education to love the Motherland, protect it, remember the historical events and pass them on to future generations.

Emphasizing that the events of January 20 have an important historical and symbolic meaning as the beginning of the path of victory of our people, the head of the department said that Armenia's decades-long policy of aggression ended with the Patriotic War of the Azerbaijani people.

At the event, students recited poems on the themes of independence and patriotism, and demonstrated literary and artistic compositions.
