Some Seminole County parents are upset the public schools require children to wear face masks while on campus and have been urging the School Board to rescind its face-covering rules.

“If this mandate isn’t going away, my sons aren’t going back,” Julia Quint told the Seminole County School Board at a meeting this month.

Quint, who also spoke against the mask rules at a board meeting in November, said she pulled her children from Woodlands Elementary School near Longwood because of the requirements.

She and others said the masks are unhealthy, promote anxiety and other emotional problems in kids and infringe on parents’ rights to make health decisions for their children.
