A session titled "Improving Research Collaboration and Internationalization in Azerbaijan: Baku State University's Strategy and Networking Event" was organized by Baku State University (BSU) and the international ranking agency "Times Higher Education" (THE) at the University of Manchester in the UK. Representatives from over 10 countries’ higher education institutions participated in the session, which was held as part of THE's World Academic Summit.

According to BSU, the rector Elchin Babayev delivered an extensive presentation on the efforts made in recent years to enhance the university's competitiveness, as well as on scientific research collaboration and internationalization. During the session, Ulker Sattarova, the director of the State Agency for Science and Higher Education under the Ministry of Science and Education, provided information on the work being done in these areas within the country.

In the second part of the session, a panel discussion on the development prospects of research collaboration and internationalization, as well as ways to promote innovations in higher education and research, was held under the chairmanship of Duncan Ross, the chief information officer of THE. The panel featured Ulker Sattarova, Elchin Babayev, and Bassam Alameddin, the president of the Gulf University of Science and Technology in Kuwait.
