Today is the birthday of People's Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR Sara Gadimova.

 

Sara Gadimova was born on May 31, 1922 in Baku.

 

The singer, originally from the village of Abdal-Gulabli in Agdam, began his career in 1941 as a soloist of the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic named after Muslim Magomayev.

 

Thanks to her unique talent, she became known as a singer in a short time and won the love of the audience. The song "Sister of Mercy" composed by genius Uzeyir Hajibeyov and Samad Vurgun during the Second World War and sung by the singer in front of Azerbaijani soldiers on the front became the embodiment of the heroic Azerbaijani woman.

 

Powerful masters such as Huseyngulu Sarabski, Khan Shushinsky, Seyid Shushinsky had a great influence on Sara Gadimova's upbringing as an artist. As a worthy successor of his predecessors, he remained faithful to the classical performing traditions until the end of his life.

 

Sara Gadimova, who performed in leading roles at the Azerbaijan State Opera and Ballet Theater, was remembered for her images of "Leyli" and "Asli" on the opera stage. His mugams "Bayati-Shiraz", "Shur", "Shahnaz", "Qatar", "Mahur-hindi", "Kharij segah", various Azerbaijani folk songs were written in golden letters in our history. "Karabakh Tragedy" performed by the singer has a special place in the history of Azerbaijani music. Sara Gadimova, who has a deep knowledge of the subtleties of folk music, was one of the great artists who enriched our national music treasury with her style of performance. She took a worthy place in the Azerbaijani school of singing with deep historical roots and traditions and contributed to its development. The ability to penetrate into the inner world of the listener, to create a strong emotional impact on him was a characteristic feature of Sara Gadimova's work. The main goal of the singer's work, which spans more than sixty years, was to serve the culture of Azerbaijan. Sara Gadimova's life, characterized by extreme devotion to our national music, will always be an example for the younger generation of singers.

 

Sara Gadimova, who has repeatedly successfully represented our national culture abroad, was able to make Azerbaijani folk music popular among people of different nationalities and was met with deep sympathy on the most prestigious stages of her performances.

 

He died on May 12, 2005 in Baku.
