The names of the winners of the 2021 Nobel Prize in Economics were announced on October 11 in Oslo, Sweden.

The award, established by the Swedish State Bank in memory of Alfred Nobel, was awarded to American economists Joshua D. Angrist and Guido W. Imbens for their methodological contributions to the analysis of cause-and-effect relationships, and to David Card for his empirical contribution to labor economics.

The Nobel Prize in Economics is the most prestigious award in the field of economics. Founded on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the Swedish bank, the award was first given in 1969.

This year, as last year, the amount of the Nobel Prize in each nomination will be 10 million crowns ($ 1.19 million).

The award ceremony will take place on December 10, the birthday of Alfred Nobel in the capitals of Sweden and Norway.
